Grumman 17' with sail 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Greetings: I have finally acquired a sailing canoe - a 17' Grumman with a nearly complete sail package.

I have two problems: first, I don't have all the parts - I am missing the lee boards (although I have the mounting bracket) and second, I don't know exactly how it goes together.

I have contacted Chicagoland about a replacement grommet and some instructions. The problem is, I don't know exactly what sail I have. I believe I have the lateen rig but am unsure. The sail is blue and white, has a mast approximately 8 feet tall with two "booms" off of it on floating hardware. One boom (presumably the top one) has a fixture through which you can pass a rope.

Any pictures of Grumman rigs would be grately appreciated.

Those are 'spars' and you're right--one hangs from the halyard. How about posting a couple of photos here so we can see what you have? Include the sail and a good pic of the leeboard bracket--help is on the way!

Thanks for the encouraging words - a photo is coming, just as soon as the camera dries out from this past weekend's miss-adventures.
