Hi everyone

This is actually my second attempt at sailing a canoe. Back in the early 1970's I saw a magazine article about mounting a sail on a canoe and decided to try it out. I used plywood (interior) for the rudder and leeboards, electrical tubing (steel) for the mast and spars, and a bed sheet for a sail. Despite all this, it worked. I spent a couple of years sailing it before the mast and spars rusted out and the leeboards fell apart. After a short break (35 years) I decided to try it again. I found some very good info here in CSM and a small Lateen sail on eBay. I've sailed my new rig 3 or 4 times on St. Joseph Sound from the Dunedin causeway on the west coast of Florida. Still have a few bugs to work out, but its been an enjoyable experience.

Hi, Tom--hi, neighbor! Dunedin is the home of CSM, so the 'official' CSM canoe (seen as our avatar) can be sailing off the Marina or causeway when weather, time and SWMBO permits!
