point taken, mine are the first and only two 'sailing canoes' ive ever truly seen. I had no idea the thing had such history frankly. I just want it to work and that it does. I too need to improve my rudder system. Although very general for me one rudder or two? note avatar.

Hi,

I use a Ronstan RF-3133 urethane universal joint for my push/pull tiller that sells for around $10.
It snaps on and off in seconds and is responsive and durable.

Thanks, John!

I vaguely recall early Hobies doing that; maybe another make. No--couldn't be a typical cat since the board would lift when heeled. I dunno. Why not just use one hull and be done with it?

I used to have a cat with the two rudders so when one hull lifted out of the water you still have one rudder in the water. But if you aren't sailing with more sail then is in your avatar picture it looks like you could get by with one rudder, perhaps a little larger and longer then usual.
