Not me, wish it was. But then do I? Ive twice the sail and half the wetted area. My mast is 20' clean (mains 18'x8' and fores 12'6"x8' with 10'x12'6" kite, pulled tight). Theirs looks heavy while it is cookin! What would you guess their speed?

6, 7 knots in the most. But the camcorder hatman at one point goes probably 9 or 10 knots when he unfurled jib, pretty good speed.

Whats your record with one/two up. Ever break ten? This the whole point of the foil thing to me. I do enjoy simply sailing but I cannot ignore potential!

I have no instrument for that. No GPS, or else.

But I beleive, once in a narrow channel on Lake Toro called, France Island Passage, F5, shore was 100 ft from canoe and going rather faster....to me 10 wasn't exagerate... but make that 9 knots. 2 reefs on mainsail, full to mizzen, man that was amazing, my buddy enjoyed a lot.

I will buy a GPS for summer, not too expensive, then I'll be able to have an accurate reading.

Here's a map section to give you an idea about location.

Wind was from West, on the run (backwind), passage 1 mile approx. from x to y.

Lake Toro is in Quebec, about 100 miles north from Montreal, a beautiful lake. Many motor boats, but that's ok. Get that on Google map.

We also sailed a gentle day on lake Sawin where few motors, 10HP max are allowed, it's also nice for sailing.

Seems you were in a wind tunnel of sorts. Nearly dead down wind run right?. Have you a dagger board or keel to speak of? Could you match wind speed in a beam reach and stay on course; little lateral deviation for example. I appreciate your tolerance of my many questions as I am fascinated by various designs.

There was pretty good wind all over, but in that passage wind got stronger (compression maybe). I have leeboard to each side,no daggerboard.

Clause-hauled, beam reach any direction my canoe is always stable, almost no heeling (8 ft outrigger to each side). Deviation is minor and I bring correction.

My canoe looks like a trimaran.

No problem, asking question is good. Don't forget many people read postings and some might be pertinent to many readers. This is the beauty of this magazine, the more it goes in time, the better it gets.
